Briana Waldeck

Ms. Waldeck received her nursing degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 2008 and Family Nurse Practitioner certification from University of St. Francis in 2014.

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced academic and clinical experience, which enables her to diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses, either independently or as a part of a health care team. Working in collaboration with AMS internists, our nurse practitioners provide high-quality, individualized care for the lifespan of a patient’s special needs.

Ms. Waldeck provides care for adults and children.  She will take medical histories and perform physical exams and tests, order and interpret lab studies and x-rays, and identify and treat problems and conditions that are often seen in the office.

An important part of healthcare is preventive medicine. For children, such prevention includes immunizations for the prevention of infections and childhood diseases, as well as guidance for accident prevention in the home.  For adults, we emphasize regular checkups in order focus on early detection of potential-and-silent problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol control.  Preventive medicine also means advice on lifestyle changes that can help patients stay well.  She will refer you to our physicians if a serious health problem is discovered.

An informed patient is a more satisfied patient.

Educating patients is an important part of the AMS philosophy. This means explaining your treatment in detail, providing you with literature on your illness or treatment, and generally making certain that you understand the care that is prescribed for you.
