Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Frazier received her medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina in 2012 and a joint family medicine residency with the USAF and Saint Louis University in 2015.
Unlike many Alton IL Family practice physicians who choose to concentrate on a single subspecialty Dr. Frazier uses her expertise in both pediatrics and Adult medicine in her practice. This enables her to treat a variety of illnesses in many age groups, and allows her to see many members of the same family.
In both pediatrics and her treatment of adults Dr. Frazier believes strongly in preventive measures.
For children such prevention includes well child exam, school/sports physicals, immunizations for the prevention of infections and childhood diseases, as well as guidance for the accident prevention in the home.
For adults, she emphasizes regular checkups in order to focus on early detection of potential and silent problems such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, depression, musculoskeletal injuries, urinary tract infections and many other conditions. Preventive medicine also means advice on lifestyle changes that can help patients stay well.
As a primary care doctor in Alton IL, Dr. Frazier provides most of the elements of a patient’s routine care. This includes Pap smears, cholesterol testing, and follow up treatment after hospitalization for illnesses. Of course there are times when a specialist in another field of medicine should be consulted. In these cases, Dr. Frazier will refer her patient to a competent physician in the required field.
An informed patient is a more satisfied patient. Educating patients is an important part of the AMS philosophy. This means explaining your treatment in detail, providing you with information on your illness or treatment, and generally making certain that you understand the care that is prescribed for you. The more informed you are, the better able you will be to participate in your progress, so we encourage questions.
