Each of the major aspects of pediatric medicine‑newborn infants, children, and adolescents‑bring its own set of challenges to the childcare specialist, and each brings its own set of rewards as well.
A pediatrician not only cares for your child when he or she is ill, but also provides well child care. This is why the importance of regular appointments cannot be overemphasized. These visits are an important time for the doctor to evaluate your child’s health, administer immunizations, and provide anticipatory guidance regarding child rearing, behavior and development. These visits also present an excellent opportunity for you to get answers to your questions in these areas.
The ideal way to begin your relationship with your child’s pediatrician is to schedule a prenatal visit.
Dr. Zenker is available to you 24 hours a day if your child has a medical emergency. His staff and nurses have been trained to help callers decide if a child needs an appointment; his nurses also can answer many of your questions. If you wish to speak with Dr. Zenker directly, and he is unavailable, his staff will take a message and your call will be returned.
An informed patient is a more satisfied patient.
Your AMS pediatrician believes in explaining your child’s condition in detail, providing literature on his or her illness or treatment, and generally making certain that you understand the recommended care. Your questions are always welcome, and either Dr. Zenker or his well-trained staff will supply you with the answers you need.
